Shorkk
Flavours of Lebanon
Shorkk, is the brainchild of Miranda and Philippe el Khazen, who bring their Scottish and Lebanese roots into a unique venture.
Shorkk emerged as a personal response to the economic crisis in Lebanon, which began in October 2019. Recognising the severe impact on farmers and food producers, Miranda and Philippe decided to support these communities by sharing their exceptional products with the UK. Shorkk aims to introduce the rich and vibrant flavours of Lebanese ingredients to the UK, importing ethically-traded products directly from Lebanese farmers and producers.
From the north of Lebanon, Shorkk sources extra virgin olive oil, “souri” olives, and olive leaf infusion, along with tangy pomegranate molasses from Chekka and jewel-like saffron from the Bekaa Valley.
The name "Shorkk" reflects their dual heritage. Inspired by the thistle, a plant that thrives both in Lebanon and Scotland, they combined the Arabic word for thistle, شوك (showk), with the English word "fork" to create a name that symbolises resilience and cultural fusion.
Make sure to swing by their stand in the producer marquee for some flavours of Lebanon.
